*What is Reiki?
Reiki is an energy healing method that is used today as a way to support the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual healing
and well-being of all living beings, including animals. It was originally discovered in Tibet and then later rediscovered in Japan
in the early 1900's by Mikao Usui.
Rei means “spirit,” and ki means “energy,” so the word Reiki (ray-key) translates as “spiritual energy” or "life force energy."
This is the same life force energy that flows through everything, giving us life, motion and heat. It's what keeps us alive and
without it we would all perish. (Coincidentally, the root of the word animal, "anima," means "Soul, spirit or life force, " so we
can see that Reiki and animals go together beautifully!) It's like charging a battery, Reiki is the jumper cable between the client
and Source energy and once you are charged, the healing can begin. Therefore, when life energy is high, the individual is said
to be healthy, balanced and less likely to be sick. When life energy is low, the individual is more likely to be affected by stress
and less resistant to illness. With Reiki, once you try it, you will love it.
Reiki is a non-invasive technique or healing modality that is given to enhance health and well-being and uses energy and
intention for stress reduction and relaxation to encourage and accelerate the body's own natural healing. It is a system of
meditative practice that uses energy and mindfulness techniques to help bring the body, mind and spirit back into balance and
alignment by unblocking the flow of energy. This allows the animal or person to relax and to heal itself on a very deep level.
We call this the "Reiki ripple effect," when we find peace of mind and heart and a more balanced state physically, emotionally
and mentally through meditation. With Reiki, healing, emotional release, balance and transformation occurs for animals as
well as people.
Quantum Physics shows us that all things are made of energy, nothing is solid and everything is possible.
Reiki is also energy that easily flows through all of our energy centers and pathways (our chakras and meridians), so it
can move throughout our whole body. This energy has an intelligence and a wisdom of its own and travels through the
practitioner to the beings who need comfort, peace, protection, well-being, strength or healing, no matter where they
are located or where the practitioner is located! The reason this happens is according to consciousness teaching, time
and distance are not actually "real," but are 3rd dimensional constructs, designed to help us comprehend our world.
Reiki can bring about tremendous internal healing on all levels. It is holistic and can be used for physical, mental, emotional,
and spiritual healing. As the nature of Reiki is to support energetic balance and harmony, it always finds the origin of the
problem and works for the highest good - rebalancing and clearing the energy “flow.”
Reiki is defined as a "practice" one does and we are called “practitioners” of this system, not “healers,” since we are not
actually manipulating energy for healing; rather we are creating an energetic space to support the self-healing process of
the being to whom we are connecting. The body wants to heal itself as healing is the body’s natural or innate way to be.
In reality, each individual and being is responsible for their own healing process, and Reiki is simply a way to support this.
What is Animal Reiki?
In Reiki, we begin with the premise that all conscious, living beings have Souls, including animals.
The Soul is the life energy of the individual, whether human or animal. This life force continues, even after the physical death
of the individual. Because animals are individuals, their emotional lives are as complex and diverse as humans. With Reiki, we
are making a heart-to-heart/ Soul-to-Soul connection with another intelligent, sentient being for the purpose of creating a safe
and loving space in which the animal can heal itself.
Reiki is ideal for use with animals because it's nurturing, noninvasive and doesn't require any physical or direct contact.
It is an energy modality that honors the entire being; bringing the body, mind and spirit back into balance and alignment by
unblocking the flow of energy. It doesn't cause stress, discomfort, or pain, and yet it yields powerful results. Animals respond
intuitively to Reiki's power to support and honor the healing of the whole individual.
Reiki treatments help your animal to relax and experience deep levels of stress-relief, helping to create the ideal conditions
for your animal's own natural self-healing abilities to operate. A Reiki treatment feels like warm, liquid sunshine, gently flowing
in and through your pet, while it comforts, calms and relaxes them. It's a great way to support a healthy animal, just like having
a relaxing massage or spa treatment can provide for a human's well-being. Reiki helps to provide healing from illness and injury,
aids in post-surgery recovery, and can lessen the negative side-effects from taking medications, making it the perfect complement
to traditional veterinary medicine or any type of holistic healing practice.
Who is Reiki For?
For animals who are healthy: Reiki helps to maintain their health, enhances relaxation and provides a calming sense of peace
and contentment that supports greater well-being.
For animals who are ill: Reiki is a wonderful healing method as well as a safe complement to Western Medicine, Chinese Medicine, homeopathy, flower essences, and all other forms of healing. For example, Reiki can reduce the side effects of chemotherapy,
support acupuncture treatments, and complement the effectiveness of traditional prescription medicine.
For animals in the process of dying: I know what it feels like to watch as your beloved animal fights canine cancer and congestive heart failure. I also know what it feels like when you've done everything you can and the only thing left for you to do is offer Reiki to help ease their pain. Reiki is a powerful yet gentle way to provide comfort, relief from pain, fear, and anxiety, and helps ease an animal's peaceful transition into spirit.
All animals understand energy healing, there is no 'placebo effect' with animals.
